Baseball Releases 2019 Schedule

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona baseball program announced its 2019 regular season schedule on Wednesday.

The Lions' 40-game schedule features six home doubleheaders, as well as the team's annual trip south to compete in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The 2019 season is also highlighted by Penn State Altoona's return to Stewart Athletic Field on campus, where the Lions will play all of their home games after being displaced for the past three years due to construction on the Adler Athletic Complex.

Opening day for Penn State Altoona baseball is scheduled for Saturday, February 16, when the team will hit the road to Virginia to play non-conference opponent Eastern Mennonite University in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.

After that, the Lions will travel to central Florida to play in the RussMatt Invitational, where they will play a total of nine games at a variety of locations in the region against non-conference opponents from around the country. The game days are tentatively scheduled to be March 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8, with the opponents, start times, and locations still to-be-announced.

Following the team's Florida trip, it will return to Pennsylvania for nine more games during the rest of March. On Tuesday, March 19, Penn State Altoona hits the road to play a single, 9-inning game against Frostburg State University at 3:00 p.m. Next, the Lions have road doubleheaders at non-conference opponent Juniata College (Wednesday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m.) and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foes Hilbert College (Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m.) and Pitt-Greensburg (Wednesday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m.). Penn State Altoona wraps up March with its home opener, a doubleheader against non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College (Friday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m.).

Next, Penn State Altoona will embark on a busy April schedule, playing 20 games in the span of 30 days. The Lions host home doubleheaders against non-conference foe Penn College (Tuesday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m.) and AMCC opponents Pitt-Bradford (Tuesday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m.), La Roche College (Wednesday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m.), Mount Aloysius College (Wednesday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m.), and Medaille College (Saturday, April 27 at 1:00 p.m.). Penn State Altoona's away games in April are doubleheaders at AMCC opponents Alfred State College (Saturday, April 6 at 1:00 p.m.), D'Youville College (Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m.), and Penn State Behrend (Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m.), as well a non-conference doubleheader at St. Vincent (Tuesday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m.) and single, 9-inning games at non-conference foes Wilson College (Thursday, April 18 at 4:00 p.m.) and Lancaster Bible College (Tuesday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m.).
