ELMIRA, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona men's golf returned to action for the first time since October, as the Lions competed in the Elmira College Spring Invitational on Tuesday at Elmira Country Club.

Playing in its lone date of the spring season, Penn State Altoona came in sixth place out of 12 teams at the Elmira Invite. The Lions combined to shoot 342.

SUNY Delhi's 'B' team and SUNY Oswego tied for first place at the event, as each team shot 321. Penn College came in third with 322 strokes, and the SUNY Delhi 'A' squad was fourth with 333.

"It was good to kick the competitive rust off," said Penn State Altoona head coach Tom Koehle. "We would have benefitted from a tournament round last week, but the weather didn't cooperate."

Ethan Yohe (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) fired a team-best 83 for Penn State Altoona, tying for 13th place out of 60 golfers.

"Ethan was solid today," Koehle stated. "He showed the promise he had all fall. I'm excited for his return in the fall."

Luke Hoffnagle (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) shot an 85 to tie for 23rd place. Jacob Mrvos (Pittsburgh, PA/Norwin) and Cole Mori (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis Area Christian School) each carded an 87 to tie for 33rd place overall, and Jimmy Gillespie (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) rounded out the Lions' five with an 88.

Grant Molloy (Ambler, PA/Upper Dublin) and Frankie Guinan (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) competed as individuals for the Lions, with Molloy shooting a 93 and Guinan finishing with 94.

"Seven returning players in the fall, including our top three statistically, gives me reason for excitement," said Koehle. "Our freshmen, who gained match experience today, will be looked upon to improve this summer and round out our lineup in September."
