Three Lions Voted to All-AMCC Golf Team

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Three Penn State Altoona men's golfers have been voted to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team, as the league announced its postseason golf awards on Wednesday afternoon.

Selected to the first team of the All-AMCC squad were sophomore Ethan Yohe (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) and junior Jimmy Gillespie (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley), while junior Luke Hoffnagle (York, PA/Spring Grove) was voted to the third team.

Yohe golfed in all 10 rounds for the Lions this season and ranked second in the AMCC in average, compiling a mark of 78.5 shots per round. In the two-day AMCC Championships on October 13-14, Yohe finished as the individual runner-up out of 45 golfers, shooting 78 in each round to record a combined score of 156. The sophomore's low score this season came during day one of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on September 28, when he fired 75 to tie for 12th place out of 96 individuals that day. On the season, Yohe shot below 80 in a team-best seven out of 10 rounds.

This is Yohe's second appearance on an AMCC All-Conference team, after being voted to the second team after his freshman season last fall.

Gillespie competed in all 10 rounds of golf for Penn State Altoona this fall, ranking fifth in the conference with a scoring average of 79.7. The junior finished in a tie for sixth place individually during the AMCC Championships, compiling a two-day score of 162 in the event. Gillespie's best score of the season came during day two of the Allegheny College Invitational on September 9, when he shot 71 to post the lowest score of the day in a field of 69 golfers. His score of 71, a 1-under par on the round, was the first 1-under score by any Lions golfer since the 2007 season.

This is Gillespie's second time being voted to an All-AMCC team, after he was a second team selection last fall.

Hoffnagle golfed in all 10 rounds for Penn State Altoona this fall, and he ranked 14th in the conference with a scoring average of 81.5 by season's end. During the AMCC Championships, Hoffnagle tied for 17th place individually with a two-day score of 169. The junior's lowest score of the season came during day two of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic, when he carded a 75 to record his best score since 2017.

This is Hoffnagle's second appearance on an AMCC All-Conference team, as he was a first team All-AMCC pick at the conclusion of his freshman season in 2017.

Penn State Altoona men's golf finished its season as AMCC runners-up, placing second in the conference championships with a two-day team score of 648. It was the Lions' highest finish at the AMCC finals since 2015.
