Lions Blanked 3-0 by D'Youville in Home Finale

ALTOONA, Pa. - In Penn State Altoona men's soccer's final home game of the 2017 regular season on Saturday, the Lions lost 3-0 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent D'Youville College at Spring Run Stadium.

D'Youville (4-10-1, 3-5 AMCC) got a hat trick from Hunter Sherman.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made five saves at goalkeeper for Penn State Altoona (3-13, 2-5 AMCC) in the loss. Seth Murrelle (Sayre, PA/Sayre) led the team with four total shots attempted, while Jordan Crist (Alum Bank, PA/Chestnut Ridge), Ben Jago (Allentown, PA/Parkland), Antonio Mandell (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown), and Deontae Mosley (Houston, TX/Hylton) had three shots attempts each.

D'Youville made it 1-0 at 8:55 when Bryce Humphrey sent a ball downfield for Sherman, who dribbled into the box and scored. Sherman gave the Spartans a 2-0 lead at 28:33, taking Jake Kowalewski's pass up the left side of the field and racing past several defenders to score.

Sherman struck again at 50:39 for his third goal of the day, keeping the ball in bounds along the end line and maneuvering to the front of the net to score.

Penn State Altoona led D'Youville in total shots attempted by a mark of 21-15, and the Lions also led 7-4 in corner kicks. The Spartans held an 8-4 lead in shots on goal.

Penn State Altoona men's soccer finishes its regular season on the road on Tuesday, October 24, traveling to face AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg for a 2:00 p.m. game.
