Keystone's Second Half Goals Sink Lions 2-0

ALTOONA, Pa. - After a scoreless first half, the Penn State Altoona men's soccer team yielded a pair of second half goals to non-conference opponent Keystone College in a 2-0 loss at Spring Run Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made eight saves in goal for the Lions (1-5). Deontae Mosley (Houston, TX/Hylton) and Ali Faraj (Beirut, Lebanon/International College) each registered a shot on goal.

Keystone (4-2) and Penn State Altoona battled to a 0-0 tie by halftime after an evenly-matched first period. The Giants put three shots on goal in the first half, while the Lions posted one shot on goal in the period.

But Keystone tipped the balance in their favor with a goal early in the second half. Kouassi Kouiadio crossed the ball from the left side of the box, and Daniel Zuniga was there to head it into the net from eight yards out to give the Giants a 1-0 lead at 50:37.

Keystone added an insurance goal at 79:44, when Kouadio fired a shot past the keeper from 15 yards on the right side of the box.

The Giants led the Lions 17-8 in total shots and 10-2 in shots on goal. Penn State Altoona held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Lions soccer travels for its next game, a non-conference matchup at Saint Vincnet College next Wednesday, September 20 at 4:00 p.m.
