Men's Soccer Drops AMCC Opener at Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's soccer suffered a tough loss in its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contest of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 in overtime to Pitt-Bradford at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

After two scoreless halves of regulation play, the game advanced into overtime. Pitt-Bradford (2-6-1) nabbed the game-winning goal 4:14 into the first overtime period, when Steven McFetridge's header goal off of Matthew Perry's corner kick gave the Panthers the walkoff victory.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made seven saves in goal for Penn State Altoona (1-7). The Lions' Seth Murrelle (Sayre, PA/Sayre) led all players on the day with five shots attempted, including two shots on goal. Ben Jago (Allentown, PA/Parkland) also had two shots on goal while finishing the day with four total shots.

Penn State Altoona held a 15-12 advantage in total shots, while Pitt-Bradford led 9-6 in shots on goal. The Lions had the lead in corner kicks, 6-5.

Penn State Altoona men's soccer continues AMCC play on Tuesday, September 26 when it hosts La Roche College at Spring Run Stadium for a 6:00 p.m. game.
