Men’s Soccer Defeated 3-0 at Medaille
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer was shut out in Sunday's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup at Dobson Stadium, falling 3-0 to Medaille College.
After a scoreless first half, Medaille (7-4-2, 4-1-1 AMCC) used three second half goals to grab the win. The Mavericks got tallies from Joel Rodwell, Carlos Espana, and Lachlan Beever.
Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made six saves in goal for Penn State Altoona (1-10, 1-4 AMCC). Brant Aughenbaugh (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) led the Lions with three shots, including two shots on goal. Jordan Crist (Alum Bank, PA/Chestnut Ridge) had two shots with one shot on goal.
Medaille put the game's first goal on the board at 55:36, as Rodwell scored with the assist going to Beever.
The Mavericks had a pair of quick strikes later in the period, scoring two goals in the span of 2:25. Levi Bojang and Mitchell Ali set up Espana, who found the back of the net at 74:20 to give the home team a 2-0 advantage. Next, Beever scored following a pass from Michael McGeary to increase Medaille's lead to 3-0 at 76:45.
Medaille outshot Penn State Altoona 21-9, including holding a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Mavericks also had a 9-0 lead in corner kicks.
