Men’s Soccer Powers Past D’Youville 4-2

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer won its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener on Saturday afternoon at Spring Run Stadium, defeating league opponent D'Youville College 4-2.

Connor Kiley (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and Jon Kadoch (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) led the attack for Penn State Altoona (3-6, 1-0 AMCC). Kiley scored two goals for the Lions, notching his first collegiate multi-goal game. Meanwhile, Kadoch finished with a goal and three assists. Kadoch's goal was the first of his Penn State Altoona career, and his total of three assists is tied for the most in a single game in program history.

Kiley and Kadoch helped the Lions establish a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. At 30:13, Kiley headed Kadoch's free kick past the keeper from 10 yards out to break the scoreless tie. The duo paired up again on the next goal, which came just 1:42 later. Another free kick from Kadoch found Kiley, who headed the ball past the keeper from 12 yards to make it 2-0.

D'Youville (4-5, 0-1 AMCC) cut its deficit in half at 38:56, when Nick Dumond dribbled through the Lions' defense and fired a well-placed shot into the top shelf of the net to make it 2-1.

Kadoch found the back of the net early in the second half to increase Penn State Altoona's advantage to 3-1. Taking a short pass from Song, Kadoch maneuvered around a D'Youville defender in the box and sent a shot into the top right corner of the net at 60:14.

A foul in the box led to another D'Youville goal, as Dumond netted his second of the day on a penalty shot at 74:11 to bring the Spartans back to within one, 3-2.

But Penn State Altoona added an insurance goal at 84:55. Kadoch dropped a pass off to Magd, who scored on a strong shot from just outside the top of the box to make it 4-2.
