Men’s Soccer Secures Second AMCC Win

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer recorded its second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions held on for a 2-1 win over conference opponent Alfred State College at Pioneer Stadium.

Brant Aughenbaugh (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) and Jon Kadoch (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) scored goals for the Lions (4-6-1, 2-0 AMCC), while Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made one save in goal to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Aughenbaugh put Penn State Altoona up 1-0 at 5:30, when he converted a penalty kick to score his team-leading third goal of the season. Just 7:18 later, Kadoch netted his second goal of the season on an assist from Jordan Francis (East Stroudsburg, PA/Notre Dame East Stroudsburg) to make it 2-0.

Alfred State (0-7, 0-2 AMCC) trimmed Penn State Altoona's lead to one early in the second half, when Jared Barlow found the back of the net at 52:04 to make it 2-1.

But Penn State Altoona limited the Pioneers to just one shot on goal the rest of the way, as the Lions were able to hang on for the conference win.
