Lions Blank Pitt-Greensburg 5-0

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer picked up its third Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win of the season on Wednesday evening, when the Lions posted a 5-0 victory over Pitt-Greensburg at Spring Run Stadium.

Jinkwon Song (Uiwang, Korea/McLean) scored two goals for Penn State Altoona (5-8-1, 3-2 AMCC), while Brant Aughenbaugh (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) added a goal and an assist. Seif Magd (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) and Evan Cardoza (Altoona, PA/Altoona) also scored goals for the Lions.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made two saves in goal to pick up his fifth win and second shutout of the season.

It took just 59 seconds for Penn State Altoona to score the game's first goal, when Aughenbaugh stole the ball from a defender in the middle of the field, dribbled into the box, and fired a strong shot past the keeper to make it 1-0.

Song doubled Penn State Altoona's lead at 27:07, taking a short pass from Jack Price (Unionville, PA/Unionville) in the box and chipping a shot into the goal from six yards out to make it 2-0. Just 1:45 later, Magd increased the Lions' advantage to 3-0 when a saved shot found him in the left side of the box and he sent the ball into the open net.

The Lions scored two more goals to pad their lead in the second half. Song scored his second goal of the night at 75:43, taking a pass from Aughenbaugh that was centered in front of the net and tapping the ball into the goal.

Cardoza scored his first goal of the season at 85:44 to make it 5-0, collecting a deflection in the box and firing a shot into the net.

Penn State Altoona led Pitt-Greensburg (2-9, 1-3 AMCC) in shots attempted (20-8), shots on goal (12-2), and corner kicks (8-2).

Song led the Lions in shots with five total attempts, including four shots on goal. Aughenbaugh totaled four shot attempts, putting three on goal.

Next up, Penn State Altoona men's soccer will travel to Erie this Saturday, October 12 to take on AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend at 2:00 p.m.
