Men’s Soccer Suffers 2-0 Loss in AMCC Tournament Opener

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The fifth seed Penn State Altoona men's soccer team fell 2-0 to fourth seed Pitt-Greensburg in the teams' first-round Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup on Saturday at Ridilla Field.

With the loss, Penn State Altoona (4-10-1) is eliminated from the tournament, while Pitt-Greensburg (9-5-4) advances to the semifinal round next Wednesday, November 2.

Alexander Ferry (Warren, PA/Warren) notched his 14th start of the season at goalkeeper for the Lions and made two saves in the loss.

After a scoreless first half that saw both teams combine for just six shot attempts, Pitt-Greensburg managed to grab a 1-0 lead at the 68:26 mark, when Caleb Yuricha's unassisted tally gave the Bobcats the day's first score.

Pitt-Greensburg increased its advantage to 2-0 just under three minutes later, as Jason Argueta's unassisted goal at the 71:04 mark provided some insurance for his team.

That 2-0 score stood up for the rest of the game, as Pitt-Greensburg held Penn State Altoona without a shot on goal to clinch a shutout.

Owen Myers (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) had the Lions' lone shot attempt on the day.
