Men’s Soccer Concludes Regular Season with 3-0 Loss to Mounties

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team ended its regular season schedule at home on Tuesday night, when the Lions lost 3-0 to Mount Aloysius College at Spring Run Stadium in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Game of the Week.

With Tuesday's results from around the conference now in the books, Penn State Altoona (7-5-1, 6-3 AMCC) will get the No. 5 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament. The Lions will travel to face No. 4 seed Pitt-Greensburg in a first-round matchup this upcoming Saturday, October 28 at 2 p.m. That game's location is currently to-be-determined.

Mount Aloysius (11-2-3, 8-1 AMCC) nabbed an early lead, getting two goals from Sean Barrant within the first 14:04 of Tuesday's contest. Martin Donner added a goal in the second half for the Mounties.

The visitors wasted little time putting the game's first goal on the board, finding the back of the net in the opening minute of play. Louis Bez sent a cross into the box from the left side of the field, and Barrant tucked a shot just inside the right goal post at the 40-second mark to give Mount Aloysius a 1-0 lead.

Barrant struck again at the 14:04 mark to give the Mounties a 2-0 advantage. After a Mount Aloysius corner kick, the ball deflected toward the top of the box. It came to Barrant, who sent a shot into the left side of the goal to give his team a two-goal lead.

The Mounties tacked on another goal midway through the second half. A free kick into the box deflected to Donner, who tapped the loose ball inside the left post to give Mount Aloysius a 3-0 advantage at the 72:29 mark.

Sasha Mohoruk (State College, PA/State College) finished with 10 saves at goalkeeper for Penn State Altoona, his second-highest save total of the season.

Daniel Persiko (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) had two shot attempts for the Lions, while Luca Galieti (Broomall, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) and Connor McBride (Philadelphia, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) had one apiece.
