Harte, Myers Sweep AMCC Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – On the heels of a successful week of conference play, the Penn State Altoona men's soccer team swept the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's weekly awards on Monday.

Freshman midfielder Matias Harte (State College, PA/State College) was named the AMCC's Offensive Player of the Week, and senior defender Owen Myers (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) was selected the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. Both players helped lead the Lions to conference victories last week, as the team defeated Carlow University 2-1 at home on Wednesday and Pitt-Bradford 2-0 on the road on Saturday.

Harte assisted on the go-ahead goal in Wednesday's win over Carlow, then scored his team's second goal on Saturday against Bradford. He combined to attempt 10 shots, putting four on goal.

Myers led a Penn State Altoona defense that allowed just one goal last week, while holding Carlow and Pitt-Bradford to a combined eight shots on goal.

This is the first career AMCC Player of the Week award for both student-athletes.

Penn State Altoona men's soccer is 3-9 overall, including 2-5 within the AMCC. The Lions finish their regular season on the road tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29, traveling to face nearby conference rival Mount Aloysius College at 7 p.m.
