Men's Swimming Falls to Salisbury in Home Opener

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team hosted its first home event of the season on Friday evening against non-conference opponent Salisbury University at the Altoona Area High School Pool, and Lions lost 195-63.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) led the way for the men's team, earning the only first place finish of the evening for either Penn State Altoona squad. Yaw won the 50 Yard Butterfly, clocking in at 25.40 to score nine points.

The men's team also recorded three second place finishes during the meet.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the squad of Dominic Woods (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood), Tom Weir (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield), Yaw, and Caleb Marasco (Altoona, PA/Altoona) finished as the event's runners-up with a combined time of 1:48.32.

Woods later picked up an individual second place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke, in which he recorded a time of 1:02.06. Andrew Lesnett (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) came in second in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:31.66.

The men's team will be back in the pool on Saturday, November 11. That day, Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming will both face non-conference opponent Bethany College in a 1:00 p.m. meet at the Altoona Area High School Pool.
