Men's Swimming Tops Bethany 97-60

ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's swimming picked up its first dual meet victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, winning 97-60 over non-conference opponent Bethany College at the Altoona Area High School Pool.

The Lions picked up six first place finishes during the meet to prevail in comfortable fashion.

The men's team opened their meet by winning the 400 Yard Medley Relay, as the squad of Dominic Woods (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood), Greg Landis (York, PA/West York), Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra), and Caleb Marasco (Altoona, PA/Altoona) finished with a time of 4:04.84 to come in first place.

In the 1,650 Yard Freestyle, Andrew Lesnett (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) earned the top place in the event with a time of 19:49.10.

Marasco won the 50 Yard Freestyle, placing first with a time of 24.63. Later, he prevailed in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.70.

Yaw took first in the 400 Yard I.M. by finishing in 5:01.07. Gino Cercone (Allison Park, PA/Shaler) won the 200 Yard Butterfly, posting a time of 2:20.98.

Penn State Altoona men's swimming is back in action at home on Saturday, November 18, when the Lions host new Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Alfred State College for a 1:00 p.m. dual meet at the Altoona High Pool.
