Men's Swimming Falls 110-70 at Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's swimming suffered a 110-70 loss at non-conference opponent Wilkes University on Friday evening.

The Lions recorded four first place finishes as a team.

In the first event of the men's meet, the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the squad of Dominic Woods (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood), Tom Weir (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield), Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra), and Caleb Marasco (Altoona, PA/Altoona) combined for a time of 4:01.57 to come in first place.

Later, Yaw earned an individual first place when he won the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:15.43. Weir and Greg Landis (York, PA/West York) each took a share of first place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, as both swimmers finished with a time of 1:09.82.

In the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, the final event of the night, the team of Gino Cercone (Allison Park, PA/Shaler), Cheongjae Lee (Gwacheon-si Gyeonggi-do, South Korea/St. John's), Landis, and Andrew Lesnett (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) compiled a time of 3:49.33 to place first.

Penn State Altoona men's swimming now heads into winter break and will return to action on Friday, January 12, when the Lions will travel to face non-conference opponent Gallaudet University in a 6:00 p.m. dual meet.
