Lions in Fourth After Second Day of AMCC Championships

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's swimming found itself in fourth place out of five teams by the conclusion of day two of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Swimming Championships at Penn State Behrend's Junker Center Pool on Thursday night.

Through two days, Penn State Altoona totaled 85 points to occupy fourth place in the standings. Penn State Behrend was first with 316 points, Alfred State College was second with 160 points, and Pitt-Bradford was third with 90 points. SUNY Delhi took fifth place with 44 points.

In the first men's final of the evening, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Bryce Bauer (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone), Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra), Greg Landis (York, PA/West York), and Andrew Lesnett (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) came together to post a time of 1.33.70 to place third in the 'A' final.

Next, in the 500 Yard Freestyle, Lesnett competed in the 'B' final, where he took fourth place and 10th overall out of 12 swimmers by finishing in 5:11.62.

The 200 Yard IM came next, and Yaw competed in the 'B' final, where he finished with a time of 2:08.04 to come in second place in the 'B' cut and eighth overall out of 12 swimmers.

Bauer swam the 'B' final for the 50 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 24.01 to come in third in the 'B' and ninth overall out of 12 swimmers.

Thursday's finals session wrapped up with the 400 Yard Medley Relay. In the 'A' final of that event, Penn State Altoona took fourth place when the squad of Michael Begany (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville), Landis, Yaw, and Lesnett combined for a time of 3:56.87.

The AMCC Championships continue tomorrow, Friday, February 15, for day three. Competition starts at 10:00 a.m. with preliminaries in the 400 Yard IM, 100 Yard Butterfly, 200 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Breaststroke, and 100 Yard Backstroke. At 6:00 p.m., finals will be held in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, 400 Yard IM, 100 Yard Butterfly, 200 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Breaststroke, and 100 Yard Backstroke.
