Lions Finish Fourth in AMCC Swimming Championships

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's swimming placed fourth out of five teams, as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Swimming Championships, hosted by Penn State Behrend at its Junker Center Pool, came to an end on Saturday evening.

The Lions posted a four-day score of 223 points to sit in fourth place by the conclusion of Saturday night's finals session. Penn State Behrend won the AMCC championship with a score of 865, followed by Alfred State College and its total of 421 points. Pitt-Bradford came in third place with 228 points, and SUNY Delhi was fifth with 119 points.

Tyler Stauss (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) started Saturday's events off with an eighth place finish in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle, recording a time of 19:50.54.

Next was the 200 Yard Backstroke, during which Michael Begany (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) came in sixth place in the 'A' final with a time of 2:16.97.

In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Andrew Lesnett (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) was fourth place in the 'A' final with a time of 49.48. In the 'B' cut final of the 100 Yard Freestyle, Bryce Bauer (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) came in third place and ninth overall with a time of 53.83, while Matt Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) was sixth out of the 'B' swimmers and 12th overall with a time of 1:04.44.

Greg Landis (York, PA/West York) finished in fourth place in the 'A' final for the 200 Yard Breaststroke, posting a time of 2:22.88.

In the 200 Yard Butterfly 'A' final, Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) placed sixth with a time of 2:10.77.

In the meet's last event, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, Lesnett, Yaw, Landis, and Bauer combined to record a time of 3:26.44 to come in third place in the 'A' final.
