Men’s Swimming Sinks Bethany 121-29

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's swimming resumed its 2019-20 schedule on Saturday afternoon in the Adler Natatorium, where the Lions posted a 121-29 victory over non-conference opponent Bethany College.

Penn State Altoona totaled eight first place finishes in the win, which is the Lions' fourth dual meet victory of the season. Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) and Greg Landis (York, PA/West York) each won a pair of events individually to lead the way for the men's team.

Swanson added his name to the Penn State Altoona men's swimming program's record books for the fifth time this season with his performance in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. In that swim, Swanson took first place with a time of 10:09.59, supplanting the previous record of 10:23.

Swanson later won the 50 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 22.72.

Landis earned a first place finish in the 200 Yard IM, finishing in 2:22.27. He also took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, in which he secured a time of 1:10.04.

Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 58.30, and Taylor Bohn (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) finished atop the standings in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.19.

Penn State Altoona also had a pair of wins in the day's two relay events.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Bohn, Aravind Gnanasekaran (King of Prussia, PA/Methacton), Tyler Stauss (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional), and Michael Begany (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) came in first with a combined time of 1:55.09. In the meet's final event, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the foursome of Bryce Bauer (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone), Begany, Kieran McKee (York, PA/West York), and Yaw came together for a time of 1:38.97 to take first.

Penn State Altoona men's swimming continues its three-meet homestand this upcoming Tuesday, January 14, when the Lions will host non-conference opponent Wells College for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
