Men’s Swimming Splits With Juniata, Elizabethtown in Last Regular Season Meet

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team closed out its 2021-22 regular season on Saturday with a split at Elizabethtown College's Alumni Pool, defeating Juniata College 127-20 and losing 110-89 to host school Elizabethtown.

Penn State Altoona totaled seven first place finishes during the meet. Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) accounted for three of them with three individual wins, and Laurence Wang (New Zealand/Auckland Grammar School) totaled two individual first places.

Swanson's first win of the day came in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, during which he posted a time of 10:23.98. He later took first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.01, and his third victory of the meet came in the 500 Yard Freestyle, in which he clocked in at 5:04.39.

Wang took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:55.95, and he later triumphed in the 100 Yard Butterfly by finishing in 54.71.

Luke Pletz (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) also recorded an individual first place finish for Penn State Altoona, winning the 100 Yard Backstroke in 57.44.

Penn State Altoona also posted a first place in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, during which the foursome of Pletz, Wang, Noah Jordan (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), and Tomasz Zukowski (Slatington, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) combined for a time of 3:50.60.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona men's swimming team will start preparations for the season-ending Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships. The four-day event will be hosted at Webster High School in Webster, N.Y. and last from Wednesday, February 16 through Saturday, February 19.
