Men’s Swimming Falls to Behrend in Last Home Meet

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team hosted its final home meet of the 2023-24 season on Saturday afternoon in Adler Natatorium, where the Lions lost 170.5-91.5 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend.

Penn State Altoona's day was highlighted by a pair of individual first-place finishes. Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) won the 1000 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 10:23.21, and Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria) took first in the 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 24.76.

The Lions also recorded several runner-up finishes in events throughout the meet.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs), Brian Nguyen (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township), McMullen, and Adam Marawan (Dubai, UAE/GEMS Dubai Academy) combined for a time of 1:40.42 to take second place.

McMullen achieved a second-place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly, achieving a time of 54.37. Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) took second in the 50 Yard Freestyle, finishing in 22.44.

Marawan accomplished a runner-up place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, earning a time of 49.89. Nguyen was second un the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:02.44.

Traggiai came in second place in the 500 Yard Freestyle, hitting the pad at 5:02.92.

The Lions ended the meet with a second place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, in which the team of Heyman, Marawan, Rocco Solimeo (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt), and Dotts posted a total time of 1:29.36.

Next up, Penn State Altoona men's swimming will compete in its final event of the semester next Friday, December 8, hitting the road to face non-conference foe Lycoming College in a dual meet starting at 6 p.m.
