Men’s Swimming Topples Lycoming in Last Fall Meet

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team capped its fall semester with a strong victory, defeating non-conference opponent Lycoming College 165-38 on Friday night in the Lamade Natatorium.

Penn State Altoona notched nine first places during the meet to earn its fourth dual meet win of the season. The Lions won both of the meet's relay events, while six different Lion swimmers combined for seven first places in individual events.

Brian Nguyen (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) led the way for Penn State Altoona with two individual wins. In the 100 Yard Backstroke, he took first place with a time of 57.50. He later prevailed in the 100 Yard IM after finishing in 58.61.

Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) won the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:49.87, and Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria) earned first place in the next event, the 50 Yard Backstroke, by clocking in at 26.50.

Adam Marawan (Dubai, UAE/GEMS Dubai American Academy) clinched first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly, ending with a time of 56.80. Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) came in first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.03, and Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) won the 100 Yard Freestyle in 50.80.

In the meet-opening 200 Yard Medley Relay, Penn State Altoona triumphed as the team of Marawan, Adam McGlynn (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria), Heyman, and McMullen compiled a total time of 1:46.12 to take first place.

The Lions closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, during which Dotts, Traggiai, Rocco Solimeo (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt), and Lincoln Johnson (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) came together for a time of 1:31.81.

The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team will now head into winter break, and the Lions will return to action on Saturday, January 13 with an exhibition competition against Division II opponent Lock Haven University starting at 1 p.m.
