Men’s Swimming Overpowers Pitt-Bradford in 127-67 Road Win

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team started its spring semester with an impressive performance, defeating Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon in the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center.

Penn State Altoona notched nine first places during the meet to earn its fifth dual meet win of the season. The Lions won both of the meet's relay events, while six different Lion swimmers combined for seven first places in individual events.

Brian Nguyen (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) led the way for Penn State Altoona with two individual wins. In the 200 Yard IM, he took first place with a time of 2:12.89. He later prevailed in the 200 Yard Breaststroke after finishing 2:21.60.

Adam Marawan (Dubai, UAE/GEMS Dubai American Academy) won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.23, and Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria) earned first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly by clocking in at 55.78.

Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) clinched first place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, ending with a time of 50.58. Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) came in first in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.32, and Allan Samoilovich (Leonia, NJ/Paramus Catholic) won the 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:33.38.

In the meet-opening 200 Yard Medley Relay, Penn State Altoona triumphed as the team of Dotts, McMullen, Adam McGlynn (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria) and Solimeo compiled a total time of 1:44.18 to take first place.

The Lions closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, during which Dotts, Marawan, McGlynn and Solimeo came together for a time of 1:32.25.

The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team will return to action on Friday, January 26 with an away matchup against non-conference opponent Lebanon Valley College starting at 6 p.m.
