Men’s Swimming Bests Lebanon Valley, 142-42

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team extended their dual meet winning streak to three, as they defeated non-conference opponent Lebanon Valley College, 142-42, Friday night in the Arnold Sports Center.

Penn State Altoona notched 11 first places during the meet to earn its sixth dual meet win of the season. The Lions won both of the meet's relay events, while seven Lion swimmers combined for nine first places in individual events.

Adam Marawan (Dubai, UAE/GEMS Dubai American Academy) and Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) led the way for Penn State Altoona with two individual wins apiece.

In the 100 Meter Freestyle, Marawan took first place with a time of 55.55, and he later prevailed in the 100 Meter Breaststroke after finishing 1:11.83. In the 100 Meter Butterfly, Traggiai took first place with a time of 1:04.67, while he later ended with a time of 1:07.38 in the 100 Meter Backstroke.

Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria) won the 200 Meter IM with a time of 2:28.49, and Brian Nguyen (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) earned first place in the 400 Meter Freestyle by clocking in at 4:39.41.

Adam McGlynn (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria) clinched first place in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 26.19. Allan Samoilovich (Leonia, NJ/Paramus Catholic) came in first in the 800 Meter Freestyle with a time of 10:24.26, and Rocco Solimeo (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) won the 200 Meter Freestyle in 2:11.17.

In the meet-opening 200 Meter Medley Relay, Penn State Altoona triumphed as the team of Marawan, McGlynn, McMullen and Traggiai compiled a total time of 1:57.31 to take first place.

The Lions closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 Meter Free Relay, during which Joseph Fazio (Conshohocken, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh), Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs), Lincoln Johnson (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) and McMullen came together for a time of 1:44.49.

The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, January 27 as they compete against non-conference opponents Elizabethtown College and Juniata College in a tri-meet hosted at Elizabethtown. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
