Men’s Swimming Conquers Juniata, Elizabethtown in Tri-Meet

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team competed in its second meet in as many days on Saturday, traveling to Juniata College to face the hosts and Elizabethtown College in a non-conference tri-meet in the Binder Natatorium.

The Lions went 2-0 on the day, defeating Juniata 186-51 and beating Elizabethtown 153-91 to pick up their seventh and eighth dual meet wins of the season. Penn State Altoona racked up 12 first places throughout the day, led by Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) posting three individual wins.

Traggiai started his day with a victory in the 800 Meter Freestyle, in which he earned a time of 9:01.28. Later, he won the 400 Meter Freestyle with a time of 4:24.44, and he clinched his third victory of the meet in the 200 Meter IM after finishing in 2:24.91.

Meanwhile, Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs), and Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria) each recorded two individual first places.

Dotts prevailed in the 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:06.40, and he later took first in the 100 Meter Freestyle after clocking in at 56.20. Heyman came first in the 50 Meter Backstroke, in which he posted a time of 29.56, and he picked up another win in the 100 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:03.54. McMullen took first place in the 100 Meter Butterfly after hitting the pad at 1:00.11, and his second win of the meet was in the 50 Meter Butterfly, where he scored a time of 27.05.

Lincoln Johnson (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) also had an individual first-place finish, winning the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 25.57.

Additionally, Penn State Altoona won both of the meet's relay events. The Lions opened the meet by achieving first place in the 200 Meter Medley Relay, in which the team of Heyman, Dotts, McMullen, and Rocco Solimeo (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) totaled a time of 1:52.39. The Lions concluded the meet with a win in the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay, where Johnson, McMullen, Solimeo, and Dotts combined for a time of 1:41.52.

Penn State Altoona men's swimming will conclude its regular season schedule at home next Saturday, February 1, taking on Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Pitt-Bradford in a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
