ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis program announced its 2018-19 season schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions are scheduled to compete in 13 matches this season, including 10 home dates. Weather permitting, many of those home matches will be hosted on campus at the brand new Adler Tennis Courts – part of the multi-million dollar Adler Athletic Complex Expansion and Renovation project.

Additionally, for the first time in program history, the men's tennis team will play regular season dates during the fall semester in addition to its traditional spring season. Penn State Altoona has two matches scheduled in fall 2018 before resuming its schedule in February 2019.

The Lions' 2018-19 season opens on Friday, September 28 when the team hosts non-conference opponent Marietta College for a 3:30 p.m. match at home. Next up is Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Pitt-Bradford, who will travel to Altoona for a match on Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. That match will be played alongside the Penn State Altoona women's tennis team's match with Pitt-Bradford that day, making for a men's and women's tennis joint competition.

Penn State Altoona picks up its schedule in February with a pair of non-conference matches at home, welcoming Geneva College on Saturday, February 23 for a 4:00 p.m. tilt and Bethany College on Sunday, February 24 for a 1:00 p.m. contest.

From there, the Lions head into the month of March, when the team will play six matches. On Friday, March 15, the squad hosts non-conference opponent Waynesburg University at 4:00 p.m., then it gets back in action on Saturday, March 16 for a home date against non-conference foe Frostburg State University at 1:00 pm. That date against Frostburg will be another tennis doubleheader, with the Penn State Altoona men's and women's teams both in action that day against the Bobcats.

Penn State Altoona plays its first road match of the year on Friday, March 22 when it heads to Latrobe, Pa. to face non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College at 5:30 p.m. After that, the Lions return home to face non-conference Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. and AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend on Sunday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. The Lions last match of the month occurs on Saturday, March 30, when the team travels to play AMCC foe Pitt-Greensburg at 12:00 p.m.

Penn State Altoona competes in a trio of matches in April to round out its regular season. On Wednesday, April 3, the Lions host non-conference opponent Lycoming College at 3:30 p.m. The team's final regular season road match is set for Saturday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m., when the Lions head to Buffalo, N.Y. to play AMCC opponent Medaille College. Penn State Altoona finishes its regular season on Friday, April 12 at 4:30 p.m., welcoming nearby AMCC foe Mount Aloysius College to the Adler Courts.
