Lions Tennis Downed 8-1 by Frostburg

ALTOONA, Pa. – In its first match since February 24, the Penn State Altoona men's tennis team took an 8-1 loss against non-conference opponent Frostburg State University on Saturday afternoon at The Summit Tennis & Athletic Club.

Penn State Altoona (0-7) got on the board early, picking up a point during doubles play. In the No. 2 doubles match, the duo of Jimmy Gillespie (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley)/Jaydan Jacobs (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands/Charlotte Amalie) earned an 8-5 victory. That marked Gillespie's second doubles win of the season, and it was Jacobs' first.

But Frostburg (3-0) won in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, heading into the singles portion of the match with a 2-1 lead. The Bobcats proceeded to win all six singles matches, leaving with a seven-point triumph.

In its next match, Penn State Altoona men's tennis will hit the road for just the second time this season, when the Lions travel to play non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College on Friday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
