Men’s Tennis Drops Match 6-3 at Medaille

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona men's tennis was handed a 6-3 loss on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions took on Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Medaille College at the South Towns Tennis Club.

Medaille (5-1, 4-0 AMCC) got the win by winning two out of three doubles matches to start the day, then taking four out of six singles matches.

The Lions (2-11, 1-4 AMCC) picked up an early point in the No. 2 doubles match, where the tandem of Jimmy Gillespie (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley)/Jaydan Jacobs (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands/Charlotte Amalie) prevailed 8-3. The win is Gillespie and Jacobs' fourth together this season, the most of any doubles duo on the team.

Penn State Altoona proceeded to get two points during singles play. In the No. 3 singles match, Logan Kyle (Reedsville, PA/Mifflin County) battled to earn a 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory for his team-leading fourth singles win of the year. In No. 4 singles, Jacobs recorded his third win of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over his opponent.

Lions tennis returns home for its next match, which is set for Monday, April 8, when the team will host non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College at 4:30 p.m.
