Brinker Named AMCC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona junior Micah Brinker (Lock Haven, PA/PA Cyber) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week in men's tennis on Monday afternoon.

Brinker had a strong week for the Lions, going 2-0 in No. 4 singles matches and 1-1 in No. 2 doubles matches.

In Wednesday's match against non-conference opponent Juniata College, Brinker posted a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 4 singles while taking an 8-1 loss in No. 2 doubles. Against AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford on Sunday, the junior earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 4 singles and an 8-0 win in No. 4 doubles.

This is Brinker's first AMCC Player of the Week award of his collegiate career. This season, the junior holds a perfect 3-0 record in No. 4 singles matches, as well as a 2-2 mark in No. 2 doubles matches.

Penn State Altoona men's tennis is 1-3 overall, including being 1-0 in the AMCC. The team played its final match of the fall semester on Sunday, October 3, and it will resume its schedule on March 13 against conference foe Medaille College.
