Men's Tennis Downed by W&J, 6-3, in Fall Finale

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team played its second and final fall non-conference match on Thursday afternoon at the Adler Tennis Courts, where the Lions suffered a 6-3 loss to Washington & Jefferson College.

Winning two out of three in doubles play put Penn State Altoona (0-2) at an advantage, as the Lions grabbed a one-point lead in the overall match. In No.1 doubles, Casey Hess (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona)/Andrew Chronister (York, PA/Dallastown) picked up an 8-1 victory. In the No. 2 spot, the duo of Nick Beard (Manns Choice, PA/Bedford)/Kadyn Carey (Altoona, PA/Altoona) won 8-5.

But Washington & Jefferson (2-3) pulled together to win five out of the six in singles play, as the Presidents came back to win the match by four points.

Chronister won the No. 2 match by a 6-1, 6-2 decision in singles play.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona men's tennis breaks for the season until the spring semester, when they will take on non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College at home on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 1 p.m.
