Men’s Tennis Extends Win Streak to Six in Victory Over Greensburg

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team continued its winning streak on Saturday afternoon, defeating Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg 9-0 at the Gorilla House Gym.

The Lions (6-3, 3-0 AMCC) earned their sixth consecutive victory this season by winning all three doubles matches and all six singles matches to blank Pitt-Greensburg (2-6, 1-3 AMCC).

In the No. 1 doubles match, the pair of Casey Hess (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona)/Andrew Chronister (York, PA/Dallastown) defeated their opponents 8-0 to improve their record together this season to a perfect 9-0. Kadyn Carey (Altoona, PA/Altoona)/Nick Beard (Manns Choice, PA/Bedford) picked up their sixth win of the season in the No. 2 match, where they posted an 8-1 victory. In No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Parth Raval (Mumbai, India/Thakur Polytechnic)/Wilhelm Grot (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) prevailed 8-5 to record their second victory together.

Hess got a 6-0, 6-1 win in his No. 1 singles match for his seventh win of the season, and Chronister improved to 9-0 by beating his opponent 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 spot. Beard played to a 6-4, 6-1 decision in the No. 3 match to record his sixth win of the season, and Carey grabbed his third win by virtue of a 6-2, 6-4 triumph in the No. 4 slot. Emmett Hibbs (Richfield, PA/East Juniata) prevailed 6-2, 6-0 in No. 5 singles for his fifth win, and Jackson Newell (Leechburg, PA/Kiski) won 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 match for his fifth victory.

Penn State Altoona men's tennis returns to the road for its next match, as the Lions will travel to Beaver Falls to face non-conference opponent Geneva College on Tuesday, April 9. That match is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
