Lions Earn 3-1 Win at Thiel
GREENVILLE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's volleyball grabbed a 3-1 victory non-conference opponent Thiel College on Thursday night at the Beeghly Gymnasium.
Penn State Altoona (11-10) prevailed by scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18.
Justin Bannister (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) had an historic night for the Lions. With one solo block and two block assists, he became the Lions volleyball program's all-time record-holder for total blocks. Bannister ended the night with 205 career blocks and counting.
Dan Downs (Reading, PA/Daniel Boone) led the Lions in kills with 13, while Ian Rathgeb (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) added 10 kills.
Tommy Kisick (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) had a team-high 38 assists to go along with eight digs, one solo block, and one block assist. Brandon Arentz (Mount Wolf, PA/Northeastern) had a team-high 12 digs, and Brian Sheddy (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) posted nine digs.
Penn State Altoona men's volleyball is back in action this Saturday, March 24 against North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Keuka College for a 3:00 p.m. match in the Adler Arena. That match also marks the team's Senior Day ceremony.
