Penn State Altoona overcame a 2-0 deficit late in its first contest of the day, but Westfield State (3-0) scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to walk off as winners.

Cameryn Feathers (Martinsburg, PA/Central) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Gianna Hoppel (Lewistown, PA/Mifflin County) was 1-for-2 with a run batted in, a run scored, and a walk.

Westfield State plated the game's first run in the bottom of the second on Megan Metzger's two-out RBI single to center. The 1-0 score held until the bottom of the fifth, when the Owls used a two-out RBI single from Jordyn Lummus to give themselves a two-run advantage.

Penn State Altoona broke through for its first runs of the day in the top of the sixth. Feathers led off the frame with a base hit, moved herself into scoring position when she swiped second, and scored on Hoppel's RBI single. After a single from Maynard and a walk by Bone, Madison Sitarek (Sykesville, MD/Century) got Hoppel home with her sacrifice fly to center, tying the score at 2-2.

But Westfield State pulled out the win in the bottom of the seventh on a walkoff RBI single by Lummus.

Game Two: Penn State Altoona 11, Widener 0 (Final/5 innings)

Penn State Altoona recorded its first eight-run rule victory of the season to end its Florida trip, scoring 11 runs on 10 hits to blank Widener (2-2) in five innings.

Fisher went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. Maynard also had a two-hit game, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Jordan Krawcion (Johnstown, PA/Central Cambria) notched her first collegiate hit, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Karli Storm (Chest Springs, PA/Cambria Heights) had a double and three RBI, and Feathers also hit a double with two RBI.

Nau started at pitcher and boosted her record to 5-0 with a complete game victory, limiting Widener to just three hits and one walk over five innings.

Penn State Altoona scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Feathers' fielder's choice allowed Fisher to score from third base, and Hanna Lauck's (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) RBI groundout to shortstop plated Brooke Colledge (Everett, PA/Everett).

The Lions got five runs across in the second. Fisher's RBI single made it 3-0, and Storm's bases-loaded double drove in three more runs to double Penn State Altoona's total. One batter later, Feathers' RBI double extended the Lions' advantage to 7-0.

A two-out RBI triple by Fisher in the third inning increased Penn State Altoona's lead to 8-0. In the fourth, Hoppel's RBI single and Krawcion's two-run base hit gave the Lions an 11-0 advantage.

Penn State Altoona held its lead through the top of the fifth inning, invoking the eight-run rule and ending the game early.

Penn State Altoona softball now returns to Pennsylvania, where the team will host its home opener later this week. The Lions will face Grove City College in a doubleheader at Stewart Athletic Field this Thursday, March 14, starting at 3 p.m.
