Women's Bowling Starts Season in AMCC Round Robin

ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's bowling opened its 2017-18 schedule on Saturday at Holiday Bowl by hosting the first of two regular season Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin weekends.

The pair of two-day AMCC Round Robins match all eight of the conference bowling teams against each other. The second Round Robin is set to occur on Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4 and will be hosted by Thiel College.

This weekend's AMCC Round Robin #1 features two days of baker matches. By the end of day one on Saturday, Medaille College led in both total pinfall (3,430) and record (4 wins, 0 losses). Mount Aloysius College was in second place with 3,258 pins and a 4-0 record.

Penn State Altoona held down sixth place with 2,252 pins and a 1-3 record on the day.

In the Lady Lions' first match of the day, the team fell 834-561 to Medaille. Next, Pitt-Bradford dealt Penn State Altoona a 711-633 loss before the Lady Lions bounced back to win 538-446 over Penn State Behrend. In the final match of the day, Hilbert College edged the Lady Lions 573-520.

Nicole Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) led Penn State Altoona on the day with an 8.29 pins per frame average. Rylee Duck (Mifflintown, PA/Juniata) averaged 7.9 pins per frame.

Day two of the AMCC Round Robin weekend picks up tomorrow, Sunday, November 12 at 9:00 a.m. at Holiday Bowl.
