Lady Lions Bowling Wraps Up Weekend at Wilmington Invitational

NEW CASTLE, Del. - The three-day Wilmington University DII-DIII Wildcat Invitational came to an end on Sunday afternoon at the Bowlerama, and Penn State Altoona women's bowling finished the weekend in 12th place overall.

After five baker matches on Friday and five traditional team matches on Saturday, Sunday's action consisted of three best-of-seven baker matches. Teams were seeded into a bracket prior to the day's events.

Adelphi University won the invitational, dropping 3,091 pins on Sunday and finishing with 12,031 total pins over the course of the three-day invitational. Adelphi was the only team to post a perfect 13-0 record on the weekend. Kutztown University finished as the runner-up, totaling 3,336 pins in the bracket play on Sunday and ending the weekend with an 8-5 record.

In Sunday's matches, Penn State Altoona suffered a trio of 4-0 losses while finishing with 1,313 pins on the day. The Lady Lions opened the day by losing to New Jersey City University (580-479) before dropping the next match to eventual champion Adelphi (732-427). Penn State Altoona faced New Jersey City again in the final match of the day, losing 4-0 (543-407).

Nicole Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) led Penn State Altoona in baker average on Sunday with a 16.5 mark. Rylee Duck (Mifflintown, PA/Juniata) posted a baker average of 11.61 on the day.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling returns to action on Saturday, January 13 and Sunday, January 14, when the team will travel to compete in the Lady Bulldog Classic, hosted by Bowie State University.
