Women’s Bowling Places Ninth at SVC Tournament

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's bowling returned to the lanes on Sunday to compete in the Br. Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament, hosted by Saint Vincent College, at Hillview Lanes.

Sunday's competition consisted of five matches played in the traditional format. The Lady Lions finished in ninth place with a total pinfall of 3,026, including two bye matches. Penn State Altoona went 0-3 on the day in head-to-head matches.

Fellow Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference school Medaille College won the event, placing first with a total pinfall of 4,373 and going 4-1. Host school and fellow AMCC squad St. Vincent was second with 4,350 pins and a 2-2 record. Daemen College, which won last year's SVC Tournament, finished third with 4,350 pins and a 3-1 record.

Other AMCC schools who competed in the SVC Tournament were Penn State Behrend, who was seventh with 3,515 pins and a 1-4 record, and Pitt-Bradford, who placed eighth with 3,449 pins and a 3-1 record.

After bowling 631 in a bye to start the day, Penn State Altoona lost 805-699 in its first head-to-head match of the day, which was against Penn State Behrend. The Lady Lions followed that with a 962-493 loss to Daemen and a 682-562 defeat at the hands of Pitt-Bradford. Penn State Altoona finished its day by bowling 631 in another bye.

Nicole Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) placed 24th out of 64 individual bowlers on the day with a total pinfall of 731, averaging 146.2 pins per game – including a team-high 200 against Penn State Behrend. Nicole Kiser (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) finished in 25th, dropping 710 pins for an average of 142.0 per game.

Lucia Perez (Altoona, PA/CCS) placed 43rd individually, dropping 464 pins and averaging 116.0 pins per game. Eden Taddei (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg) was 47th with 382 pins and an average of 95.5 pins per game, and Sierra Snigier (Seaford, DE/Seaford) was 48th with 374 pins and an average of 93.5 pins per game.

Rounding out Penn State Altoona's lineup was Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop), who was 50th individually with 220 pins and a 110.0 average, and Kelsey Bristol (Troy, PA/Troy), who placed 54th with 135 pins in one game.

Next up, Penn State Altoona women's bowling will return to AMCC play when it competes in the AMCC Round Robin #2 on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, hosted by New Jersey City University.
