Lady Lions Bowling Starts AMCC Round Robin #2

LODI, N.J. – Penn State Altoona women's bowling opened up the second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin weekend on Saturday at Lodi Lanes, going 1-3, dropping 2,601 total pins, and finishing in seventh place out of eight teams on the day.

The AMCC Round Robin #2 weekend is comprised of matches played in the traditional team format. The first conference round robin weekend was made up of baker matches.

By the end of the first day of the two-day regular season event, Medaille College was in first place with a total pinfall of 3,418 and a 4-0 head-to-head record. Mount Aloysius College was in second place after going 3-1 on the day and dropping 3,524 pins.

Penn State Altoona started its day with a loss to Mount Aloysius, falling 847-654. The Lady Lions' highest team score of the day came in their second match against Penn State Behrend, but Penn State Altoona suffered a tough one-pin loss, going down 715-714. After that, Penn State Altoona was defeated 696-628 by Pitt-Bradford before bowling a 605 in a forfeit win against Hilbert College.

Allyson Givler (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) led Penn State Altoona in pinfall on the day, putting down 560 pins for an average score of 140.0. She ranked 18th in total pins out of 43 individual bowlers on the day. Amanda Ickes (Altoona, PA/Altoona) finished 19th individually with 559 pins, averaging 139.75 per game.

Nicole Kiser (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) was 20th place overall, finishing the day with 551 pins and a 137.75 average. She also bowled her team's top two scores on the day, dropping 162 pins in her third game and 155 pins in her second.

Nicole Watt (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) dropped 527 pins and averaged 131.75 per game to rank 25th overall, and Eden Taddei (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg) was 33rd overall with 404 pins for an average of 101.0 per gamea.

The second and final day of the AMCC Round Robin #2 is tomorrow, Sunday, March 3, starting at 9:25 a.m. The Lady Lions will take on Medaille College, Saint Vincent College, and the weekend's host, New Jersey City University, to round out the weekend.
