Lady Lions Take Three Losses in Home Opener

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's bowling held its first home match of the season on Thursday night at the F.A. Gerhart Lanes in the Bavarian Aid Society. Facing Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Saint Vincent College, the Lady Lions suffered three losses.

The teams opened the evening with a pair of traditional team format matches. St. Vincent handed Penn State Altoona two losses, with the visitors prevailing by scores of 828-634 and 843-645.

Kayla Moran (Boalsburg, PA/State College) led her team in pinfall during the traditional matches, dropping 288 pins for an average of 144.0 per game. She also bowled the Lady Lions' high score in the traditional matches, dropping 165 pins during the second game. Allyson Givler (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) totaled 282 pins for an average of 141.0 per game, including a score of 164 in the second game.

Lucia Perez (Cochabamba, Bolivia/CCS) combined for a score of 269 in two games to average 134.5. Alyssa Bender (Altoona, PA/Altoona) bowled a two-game score of 224 to average 112.0 per game, and Sierra Snigier (Seaford, DE/Seaford) totaled 216 pins for an average of 108.0 per game.

The night finished with a best-of-seven baker match. In that match, St. Vincent defeated Penn State Altoona 4-0, winning in four games by scores of 192-116, 171-125, 125-96, and 179-115.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling will meet St. Vincent again in the Lady Lions' next match, as the team will travel to Hillview Lanes in Greensburg to face the Lady Bearcats in a dual match beginning at 6:00 p.m.
