Women’s Bowling Goes 1-4 in Day Two of AMCC Round Robin #1

KENMORE, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team added one win and four losses to its record on Saturday, as the Lions competed in day two of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin #1, hosted by Hilbert College at Classic Lanes.

Continuing the weekend's five-game baker matches, Penn State Altoona faced Mount Aloysius College, Penn State Behrend, William Smith College, Pitt-Greensburg, and La Roche University in Saturday's action. Through two days of the round robin, Penn State Altoona has a total pinfall of 4,899 and stands in 11th place.

In its first match on Saturday, Penn State Altoona lost 745-719 to Mount Aloysius. The Lions posted pinfall advantages over the Mounties in the second, third, and fifth games by respective scores of 161-153, 138-125, and 157-144, but Mount Aloysius ran up big leads in the first and fourth games to win the match.

Penn State Altoona suffered a tough loss in its second match of the day, losing by one pin to Penn State Behrend, 759-758. The Lions had scoring advantages in the second and fifth games, taking them by margins of 162-127 and 167-136. Penn State Altoona also had its daily high score in a game in the first, when the Lions amassed 171 pins. However, Behrend edged Penn State Altoona by one by the conclusion of the match.

The Lions took a 973-655 loss to William Smith in the third game, but Penn State Altoona bounced back to defeat Pitt-Greensburg 722-695 in the fourth game. Versus the Bobcats, the Lions had scoring advantages in the first, fourth, and fifth games by margins of 140-126, 135-114, and 139-117.

Penn State Altoona lost its fifth and final game of the day to La Roche by a score of 722-699. The Lions built an early lead, taking the first two games by scores of 137-129 and 153-142. But the Redhawks surged back to establish a lead by outscoring the Lions in the next three games to win the match.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling wraps up this weekend's AMCC Round Robin #1 tomorrow, Sunday, November 19, for the third and final day of the event. The Lions' first match of the day is scheduled for 9 a.m.
