Women’s Bowling Goes 0-3 in Round Robin #1 Finale

KENMORE, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team wrapped up its first weekend of conference play this season, going 0-3 on Sunday in the third and final day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin #1 at Classic Lanes.

Penn State Altoona finishes its weekend with a 1-9 record in the AMCC. In 10 five-game baker matches across three days, the Lions dropped a total of 7,139 pins.

In its first match of Sunday's action, Penn State Altoona lost 830-771 to Alvernia University. The Lions outgained Alvernia by margins of 169-132 and 139-22 in the second and fourth games, but Alvernia still posted a big win.

Penn State Altoona suffered another loss in the second match, falling 788-737 to New Jersey City University. The Lions had scoring advantages over New Jersey City in the first and fifth games of the match, taking them by scores of 191-161 and 123-108. But the Gothic Knights still won the match in overall pinfall.

The Lions suffered their third and final loss of the day against Pitt-Bradford, losing 786-732. Penn State Altoona posted a 133-127 advantage after the first game, but the Panthers still edged the Lions by the final score.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling will now break for the rest of the semester. The Lions will return to action on Friday, January 26 through Sunday, January 28, when the team will play in the annual Saint Francis University Red Flash Invitational at Holiday Bowl in Altoona.
