Women’s Bowling Goes 1-1 to Start AMCC Round Robin #2

NORTH BRUNSWICK TWP., N.J. – The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team returned to the lanes on Friday afternoon, competing in day one of this weekend's three-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin #2, hosted by New Jersey City University at Bowlero.

The Lions began the weekend by facing Pitt-Bradford and New Jersey City in a pair of traditional team format matches, the format for this weekend's second and final conference regular season tournament. Penn State Altoona went 1-1 on the day, defeating Pitt-Bradford 803-782 before losing 820-716 to New Jersey City.

Penn State Altoona's Kennedie Lauver (New Berlin, PA/Mifflinburg) was the top bowler out of 59 total individuals by the conclusion of day one, dropping 412 pins in two games for an average of 206.0 per game to rank first on the individual leaderboard. Chloe Mazza (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) put down 298 pins to rank 25th individually, averaging 149.0 per game.

Breanna Yarnall (Bedford, PA/Bedford) posted a pinfall of 290 to rank 29th overall, averaging 145.0 per game. Kaitlyn Search (Allentown, NJ/New Egypt) was 30th with 286 pins, scoring 143.0 per game, and Isabelle Forcey (Clearfield, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) rounded out the Lions' starting five by ranking 40th with 233 pins for an average of 116.5 per game.

"We are so proud of the team's performance today to start off the AMCC Round Robin," said Penn State Altoona head coach Elizabeth Rhodes. "After last weekend's wins, they came in confident for this weekend. They all came together to clinch the win against Pitt-Bradford, when it came down to the 10th frame. I would also like to congratulate Kennedie Lauver on her great scores today, starting the day off rolling a 204 and finishing our last match with a 208."

Penn State Altoona started Friday's round with an 803-782 victory over Pitt-Bradford. Lauver led the way for the Lions with 204, while Mazza rolled a 197. Lauver posted another 200-plus score in Penn State Altoona's second match, an 820-716 loss to New Jersey City. Lauver scored 208, and Yarnall had her team's second-best score of the match with a 155.

Penn State Altoona resumes play in the AMCC Round Robin #2 tomorrow, Saturday, February 3, when the Lions will take on five more conference opponents: Penn State Behrend, Mount Aloysius College, William Smith College, Alvernia University, and La Roche University. Saturday's round is scheduled to get underway at approximately 10:30 a.m.
