Women’s Bowling Goes 2-3 in Saturday AMCC Action

NORTH BRUNSWICK TWP., N.J. – The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team added two wins and three losses to its record on Saturday, competing in the second day of this weekend's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin #2, hosted by New Jersey City University at Bowlero.

In Saturday's round, which continued the weekend's traditional format matches, Penn State Altoona posted wins over Penn State Behrend and La Roche University. The Lions also suffered losses to Mount Aloysius College, William Smith College, and Alvernia University.

Through seven matches so far this weekend, Penn State Altoona has gone 3-4 while amassing a total pinfall of 5,120 pins. The Lions are currently in sixth place out of 12 teams.

Alvernia holds the top spot on the team leaderboard for this weekend's tournament with a 7-0 record. Saint Vincent College is in second with a 6-1 mark.

Individually, Kennedie Lauver (New Berlin, PA/Mifflinburg) continued to lead Penn State Altoona in total pins and scoring average for the tournament. Through seven games, Lauver ranks fifth out of 67 bowlers with a total pinfall of 1,204, averaging 172.0 per game. Chloe Mazza (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) finished the day 12th individually with a scoring total of 1,087, averaging 155.29 per game in seven games. Kaitlyn Search (Allentown, NJ/New Egypt) has dropped 866 pins in six games, ranking 32nd individually while holding a scoring average of 144.33 per game.

Brooke Yarnall (Bedford, PA/Bedford) has rolled five games and totaled 686 pins, averaging 137.2 per game. Isabelle Forcey (Clearfield, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) has competed in five games, putting down 602 pins and averaging 120.4 per game. Breanna Yarnall (Bedford, PA/Bedford) has bowled four games, scoring 545 and averaging 136.25 per game. Maddy Sosko (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) rolled one game on Saturday, totaling 130.

Penn State Altoona started its day on a positive note, defeating Penn State Behrend 759-681. After that, the Lions suffered a 780-710 loss to Mount Aloysius, fell 836-744 to William Smith, and were defeated 850-695 by Alvernia. Penn State Altoona bounced back in its last match of the day, however, posting a 693-566 victory over La Roche.

Penn State Altoona women's bowling heads into the third and final day of the AMCC Round Robin #2 tomorrow, Sunday, February 4, and will compete in three more traditional team matches. The Lions will take on the rest of the conference field, facing Pitt-Greensburg, Hilbert College, and Saint Vincent College. Sunday's action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
