Women’s Golf 2018 Season Preview

For the third consecutive season, the Penn State Altoona golf program will include two women's golfers, who will compete in several events as individuals during the 2018 season.

Women's golfers this season for the program are freshman Gwyneth Butler (Avonmore, PA/Kiski) and freshman Katie Pupillo (Skippack, PA/Perkiomen Valley). Penn State Altoona golf head coach Tom Koehle is excited to have women's golfers represent the program for the third straight year, and he is eager to oversee their development on the course this fall.

"Both Gwyneth and Katie have proven that they can hit solid tee shots and keep the ball in play. Tee to green, they are two of the most solid women's players to come through our program," Koehle said. "If we can help refine their short games, both could be in the running for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference individual crown. I am excited to build off of the momentum they provide in hopes of reestablishing a full women's golf team here in Altoona."

Butler and Pupillo are currently scheduled to compete in four events this fall: the Penn State Altoona Invitational (Saturday, September 15), Mount Aloysius College Invitational (Sunday, September 16), Saint Vincent College Fall Invitational (Wednesday, September 26), and Penn State Behrend Invitational (Monday, October 1).

The Behrend Invitational also doubles as the AMCC Women's Invitational, which will pit women's golfers from other AMCC institutions against each other in a one day round to determine the conference's individual female champion and runner-up.
