Pupillo Places Fourth at Penn State Altoona Women’s Invitational

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona sophomore golfer Katie Pupillo (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) competed in her first event of the season on Saturday afternoon, playing in the Penn State Altoona Women's Invitational at Sinking Valley Country Club.

Pupillo shot a collegiate career-low 94 to place fourth out of 15 individuals at the event.

"I'm very proud of Katie," said Penn State Altoona head coach Tom Koehle. "She really stepped up and competed against a very good regional field, and she established herself as a real contender for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference individual championship in a couple weeks. She really kept herself positive throughout her round and had a few good stretches."

Of the two full teams competing in Saturday's women's invitational, Juniata College won with a combined score of 393. Widener University placed second with a score of 524.

Among all individual women golfers at the event, Susquehanna University's Ella Moores took first place by shooting 87.

Pupillo is slated to return to action tomorrow, Sunday, September 22, when she will compete in the Mount Aloysius College Invitational at 12:00 p.m. at Summit Country Club.
