Women's Soccer Falls 4-2 at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's soccer lost 4-2 at non-conference opponent Penn College on Sunday afternoon.

Shoshana Mahoney (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake-Lehman) scored two goals for the Lady Lions (1-5). Sydney Emershaw (Dallas, PA/Dallas) started in goal for Penn State Altoona and made four saves, while Emily Strouse (Beech Creek, PA/Central Mountain) entered in relief and recorded five saves.

Penn (2-4) scored the game's first two goals to take a 2-0 lead by halftime. At 28:18, Olivia Murgo took Hailee Hartman's cross and deflected it into the goal to give the Wildcats the first tally of the day. At 40:45, Ashley Donat tapped Francesca Timpone's cross into the goal to give Penn a two-goal advantage.

Penn State Altoona got on the board early in the second half when Mahoney fired a shot past the keeper from the left side of the box at 52:20 to cut Penn's lead to 2-1.

But the home team added two more goals to pad its lead. Following a corner kick, Jane Herman sent a shot from 10 yards out into the back of the net at 55:03. Audrey Bowser scored on a shot from the left corner of the box at 66:37 to make it 4-1.

Mahoney scored her second goal of the game and team-leading seventh of the season for Penn State Altoona at 73:02, hitting a one-touch shot past a defender to bring the Lady Lions to within 4-2.

But Penn held on to its lead to secure the victory.

The Wildcats held advantages over Penn State Altoona in total shots (21-9), shots on goal (13-3), and corner kicks (13-0).
