Lady Lions Fall 3-0 to D'Youville

ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's soccer suffered a 3-0 loss to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent D'Youville College on Saturday afternoon at Spring Run Stadium.

D'Youville (7-7-2, 5-3 AMCC) spoiled the Lady Lions' final home game of the regular season, getting goals from Jenna Tomizzi, Jillian Golding, and Makenna Magee.

Emily Strouse (Beech Creek, PA/Central Mountain) got the start in goal for Penn State Altoona (5-11, 3-5 AMCC) and made eight saves. Haley Giedroc (Howard, PA/Bald Eagle) led the team with three shots on goal, while Jenna Mickel (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) and Gabby Stauffer (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) finished with two shots on goal each.

After a scoreless first half, Tomizzi put the visitors on the scoreboard at 47:58 when she headed Magan Magee's well-placed corner kick into the net to make it 1-0.

D'Youville doubled its lead at 70:49. Amber Lundrigan sent a long ball downfield, and Golding took it and scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0. The Lady Spartans added an insurance goal at 85:31 when Makenna Magee dribbled around the defense and scored on a shot from inside the box.

D'Youville held leads over Penn State Altoona in total shots attempted (18-14), shots on goal (11-10), and corner kicks (7-1).

The Lady Lions' final game of the regular season is next Tuesday, October 24 at 4:15 p.m., when the team looks to keep their AMCC Tournament hopes alive in a game at Pitt-Greensburg.
