Bobcats Slide Past Lady Lions 1-0

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's soccer suffered its second straight one-goal loss to an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent on Tuesday evening, when the Lady Lions fell 1-0 to Pitt-Greensburg at Spring Run Stadium.

Pitt-Greensburg (6-2-1, 2-0 AMCC) scored the game's only goal early in the second half on a costly turnover. A giveaway in the box came to Tiffany Michalek, who sent a shot into an open goal at 46:31 to give the Lady Bobcats a 1-0 lead.

Riley Barrett (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) started in goal for Penn State Altoona (3-4-1, 0-2 AMCC) and made three saves in the loss.

Haley Giedroc (Howard, PA/Bald Eagle) led the Lady Lions in total shots attempted with four, including one shot on goal. Kierra Irwin (Altoona, PA/Altoona) had a team-high two shots on goal.

Pitt-Greensburg finished the night with a 20-9 advantage over Penn State Altoona in total shots, but the Lady Lions held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Lady Bobcats led 8-3 in corner kicks.

Penn State Altoona women's soccer continues its three-game homestand this Thursday, September 27 when it hosts non-conference opponent Washington & Jefferson College for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
