Women’s Soccer Blanked at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's soccer suffered a 5-0 loss on Wednesday night against Westminster College at Harold Burry Stadium.

Westminster (2-1) was led by Kayla Trozzi, who scored a hat trick in the first half to help the Titans jump out to a big lead. Marissa Grande and Kaelyn Puhalla added goals for the home team.

Diana Miller (Haymarket, VA/Battlefield) started in goal for Penn State Altoona (0-2-1) and made one save, and Kaitlyn Harmon (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) entered in relief and made six saves.

Alana Masullo (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) accounted for the Lady Lions' lone shot on goal, and Sadie McConnell (New Enterprise, PA/Northern Bedford) had one shot attempted.

Trozzi put the Titans up 1-0 at 17:17, when she dribbled past the defense and scored lower right. She scored again at 25:46, collecting a steal and eventually finding the back of the net on a shot. Trozzi notched the hat trick less than two minutes later, scoring at 27:30 to make it 3-0.

Grande added a goal at 33:00, and Puhalla scored at 34:36 to help Westminster to a 5-0 lead before halftime.

Westminster led in shots (24-2), shots on goal (12-1), and corner kicks (7-2).

Next up, Penn State Altoona women's soccer holds its home opener this Saturday, September 7, when the Lady Lions host Bryn Athyn College at 4:30 p.m. at Spring Run Stadium.
