Women’s Soccer Shut Out 2-0 by Mt. Aloysius in Regular Season Finale

CRESSON, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team ended its regular season schedule Tuesday night with a 2-0 shutout loss against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mt. Aloysius College at Kelly Field.

After a scoreless first half and most of the second half, Mt. Aloysius (6-8-2, 5-4 AMCC) got goals from Sara Borlie and Natalie Despot to post the two-goal win for the Mounties.

Nicole Schwartz (Clifton, NJ/Passaic County Technical Institute) started in her 13th game of the season at goalkeeper for Penn State Altoona (4-10-2, 4-4-1 AMCC). Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) and Camryn Kurilla (Mount Wolf, PA/Northeastern) tied for four shots for the Lions, with all four going on goal for both. Dee Dee Abbott (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) also contributed two shots with one going on goal.

Borlie broke the scoreless tie with a goal at 71:08, while Despot scored from an assist by Katie Figinski at 89:01 to make it 2-0 with exactly 59 seconds left in the game.

Penn State Altoona women's soccer, which will have the No. 6 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament, goes back on the road this Saturday, October 28, to face No. 3 seed Hilbert College at 3:30 p.m. in the postseason's first round. That game will be played at Frontier Central High School in Hamburg, N.Y.
