Women's Swimming Edged 97-96 at Franciscan
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - Penn State Altoona women's swimming was handed a narrow loss on Saturday afternoon, losing 97-96 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Franciscan University at Steubenville High School.
The Lady Lions recorded six first place finishes in the dual meet's 13 events.
Hannah Kimmick (Youngwood, PA/Hempfield) and Mariah Lee (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) each recorded two individual first places.
Kimmick grabbed her team's first win of the day in the 200 Yard Freestyle, in which she finished atop the standings with a time of 2:20.38. Later, in the 500 Yard Freestyle, Kimmick placed first with a time of 6:12.20.
Lee won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 30.09, and she later took first place in the 100 Yard Freestyle when she clocked in at 1:04.45.
Emily Booz (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) prevailed in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 1:08.70 to come in first.
Penn State Altoona finished the meet by winning the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as the squad of Alexis Franks (Pleasant Gap, PA/Bellefonte), Hayley Fultz (Lewistown, PA/Mifflin County), Courtney Frye (Roaring Spring, PA/Central), and Kimmick combined for a time of 2:09.22 to place first.
For its next meet, women's swimming returns to Altoona to face non-conference opponent Bethany College on Saturday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the Altoona Area High School Pool.
